Charles J. Gernazian

Biographical Information

Charles Gernazian is a mediator who has successfully mediated employment disputes in cases involving private employers, insurance companies, federal agencies, as well as employment disputes arising in High Schools and Universities. In addition to his private mediation practice, Charles been a contract mediator for the EEOC since 2014. In this role, Charles has gained considerable expertise in resolving employment lawsuits pre-litigation. Charles is also a registered neutral and is certified to mediate divorce and domestic violence cases.

Charles received his plaintiff's employment training at some of the preeminent plaintiff’s firms in Georgia, and had maintained a plaintiff's employment practice throughout much of his career. He has been instrumental in obtaining some of the largest employment law jury verdicts and employment law settlements in Georgia.

Charles received his defense employment law training at Paul Hastings, which has been consistently recognized as one of the premier employment law practice groups in the country. And prior to establishing Gernazian Legal Services, LLC, he was a Partner at Balch & Bingham, and managed the firm's Employment Practice Group in the Atlanta office.

Charles also uniquely brings many years of seminary and pastoral training, as well as a variety of ministerial experiences to his role as mediator. Based on his pastoral ministry background, he is able to identify with persons of all backgrounds and temperaments. Combining his unique experiences, Charles is able to bring a genuine level of compassion and understanding to the plaintiff/employee while at the same time fully understanding the legal parameters and business realities that govern legal disputes from an employer’s perspective.

In 1991, Charles graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law. Charles was a member of the Order of Barristers and was on many championship Moot Court and Mock Trial teams. Most notably, however, Charles was a member of the 1990 Jessup International World Championship team.

In addition to obtaining his law degree, Charles obtained a Masters in Theological Studies from St. Vincent De Paul Seminary (summa cum laude) in 2018.

Charles is also semi-fluent in Spanish and has successfully mediated many cases in which the plaintiff speaks only Spanish.
